SONS OF ALLEN- These dedicated Christian men are providing programs that enhance men in their abilities to serve God and God's people through social outreach, Godly civic leadership, and vital Christian testimony. Men will be developed as leaders and role models for youth. Men are encouraged to participate in local and connectional church activities. Men will know and appreciate the enormous contribution of the African Methodist Episcopal Church through its history, aims, beliefs, and programs.

Churches are asked to set aside one (1) Sunday per month as "Sons of Allen" Sunday.

The Sons of Allen will sponsor their Annual Retreat on June 14, 2008 at Bonner- Campbell Multipurpose Building in Edwards, Mississippi.

The Connectional Christian Education Department (CED) is held its Annual Ministries Meeting in Columbus, Ohio on april 24-26, 2008.  All organizations falling under the Christian Education Department, such as Church School, Sons of Allen, Debutante-Masters Commision, Richard Allen Youth Council and the Department of Music and Arts were invited to attend.

The Richard Allen Young Adult Council (RAYAC) held a Retreat at Nelson Chapel AME Church in Napoleonville, Louisiana. Several persons from the Central Louisiana Conference were in attendance at this insightful, stimulating and thought- provoking Seminar. The conductors of this retreat were Bros. Allen Williams and Benjamin Brown. Bro. Brown also rendered an inspirational sermon. Rev. Richard Starks is the pastor. Rev. Otis Lewis is the Presiding Elder of the Conference.

RAYAC is an organization that promotes young adult growth, involvement, and leadership in the A.M.E. Church. Anyone from the ages of 18 to 40 is eligible to join. The Eighth Episcopal District is concerned about the involvement of young adults in our church. So, we need representatives from each church and Conference Chairpersons. Future goals of the Eighth District RAYAC include our own website where we can share pictures, chat, participate in online bible studies and plan future events. We will be in contact with each church through your Conference Chairperson.

Website: (http://groups.msn.com/the8thrayac) You will need a MSN Passport to join. Feel free to leave messages or chat with your fellow future RAYAC members. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the Episcopal District RAYAC Director, Mr. Allen Williams Jr.

The First Relay for Health (Life)

As Afro-Americans we live each day fighting off Cancer, Diabetes and Heart Disease.  In the effort to better our health the DMC is putting together a Relay for Health, but in order to do so the DMC is asking for you and your church for assistance in obtaining at least a $50.00 donation in support of the development of hosting our first Relay for Health (Life).

We are depending on this donation to assist us to be able to host this event in March of this year.    We realize that that is not much time, but we just want to spread the news of our concerns for our health as young adults and want not only the Jackson-Meridian District to be a put of this event, but we want to include a wide variety of individuals, churches, and denominations.

We are asking that all donations be mailed in by February 9, 2007 so that we will know how much more we need to work toward achieving our goal. We are asking if your church would like to set up a booth to feel free to do so. More information will be mailed out later with updates on this event.

Please make all checks Payable to: CDMC, and mail to
